Joe's Barbecue Sauce



Joe's Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

1 Small onion, chopped

2 Cups Catsup

1/2 Cup molasses

1/4 Cup cider vinegar

1/4 Cup Dijon mustard

1 1/2 Teaspoon lemon juice

1 Teaspoon hickory flavored liquid smoke

1 Teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 Teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/4 Teaspoon Tabasco

3 Pinches ground allspice

 

 

 

Heat oil in heavy medium skillet over medium high heat. Add onion and cook until translucent, stirring occasionally about 8 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients and simmer until thickened, stirring frequently, about 15 minutes. Can be made ahead-Cover and chill 3 days or freeze 6 months. Yield is 3 cups.
