Ingredients:
4 Cups sliced pared apples
1/4 Cup orange juice
1 Cup sugar
3/4 Cup flour
1/2 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Cup butter
Mound apples in buttered 9” pie plate; sprinkle with orange juice. Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt; cut in butter till mixture is crumbly; sprinkle over apples. Bake 375’F. for 45 minutes or till apples are tender and topping crisp. Serve warm with cream. Serves 6
Tip: Mom uses a large baking pan and double apples. She adds a cup of sugar to them along with juice, then sprinkles remaining ingredients over apples. She doesn’t double anything but apples and sugar.
