All of these salads are good. We serve them at different times of the year and for different occasions.
Our favorite holiday salads include the Cran-Cheese Frosties and cranberry relish salad. These go perfectly with turkey. Since the kids were young, they have requested the Frosted 7-up Salad and the Black Bing-Cherry Salad at most holiday dinners. Yes, we could feed an army with all the food, and eat leftovers for at least a week!
A really unusual salad is the Hot Jalapeno Salad for Meats. This is especially good with lamb or pork. It is both hot and sweet, and is a perfect accent to the lamb.
A healthy salad we make often and love is the Marinated Broccoli Salad. It is marinated in a spicy Italian type dressing with lots of fresh dill weed. Avocados and sunflower seeds are added before serving. If the avocados are marinated with the broccoli rather than added just before serving it makes the dressing more creamy. It is good both ways. This is an excellent way to eat raw broccoli, which has many many health benefits!
The Mexican Chef Salad is a great way to use the left over taco meat from last night's dinner! It is also a good choice when you are looking for a salad entree to serve.
The Mandarin Orange Almond Crunch salad is a perfect salad when you want to impress everyone! Everything can be done ahead of time, so is perfect for the occasions when you are serving dinner in courses. Everyone will ask for the recipe! The almonds are caramelized and add a sweet crunch to the salad, the mandarin oranges add color. A favorite for sure!
Oh I can't forget... the hot German Potato Salad, it is a nice change from the regular potato salads in the summertime. If you've not had hot German potato salad, it has hard boiled eggs, bacon, onions and celery in a creamy tangy dressing. It is best served warm.
I could go on and on and on... but will let you have fun exploring the salads yourself! Again, they are all good, they have weathered the test of time!
