Ingredients:
1/2 Cup sugar
1/4 Cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 Eggs
2 Tablespoon vegetable oil
2 3/4 Cups flour
1 1/2 Teaspoon baking powder
1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
1/4 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 Cup milk
1 Cup applesauce
1/2 Teaspoon vanilla
Vegetable oil
Powdered sugar
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl: beat at med. speed of electric mixer until well blended. Combine flour and next 5 ingredients: Add to sugar mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Stir in applesauce and vanilla. Pour oil to depth of 2 to 3 “ into a heavy saucepan. Heat to 375’F. Drop batter by heaping tablespoons into oil, cooking 3 to 4 at a time. Cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel: sprinkle with powdered sugar. Yield 3 Dozen.
